I’m Sorry Oregon

Day 135: south of Mount Jefferson, Oregon

My bad. I should’ve known that I was just too tired to appreciate the splendor you were attempting to offer. But when you came with the landscape so big and so gorgeous that I fell to my knees and wonder and gratitude, I had to realize it had been me dismissing you all along.

I was tired and I needed rest. I needed fluids, I needed food. I need to stop and regroup and realize what I came here to do once more. When I gave myself the time, I realized I had pushed so hard I had bought my time. And then, with that time, I was able to fully relax. First, once the pressure was off, I simply walked slower and breathed more. Then today, I stopped at a perfect lake in a perfect scene and jumped in the water.
